Program Description

Acknowledging the intricate interplay between mental load and PPMAD risk during pregnancy is crucial for clinicians working with expecting couples. This session offers practical information for clinicians to integrate and apply the concepts of equitable division of labor into their clinical practice, fostering preventive strategies for mental health concerns.

Learning Objectives

  1. Participants will be able to identify the components of mental load and the relationship between mental load and risk of PMADs;
  2. Participants will be able to employ strategies to support clients in identifying, categorizing, and assigning mental load tasks and tailor this support to individual client needs;
  3. Participants will be able to utilize strategies to address client resistance, facilitate open communication about mental load and division of labor, and create clear role definition.

About the Presenter

Rachael is a licensed marriage and family therapist, perinatal mental health specialist, and the founder and co-owner of Trailhead Therapy in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Rachael earned her Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Purdue University Northwest and specializes in perinatal mental health, trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, parenting, and relational work with clients of all ages. Rachael is certified in Gottman Method Levels I and II and is a certified Perinatal Mental Health Specialist with Postpartum Support International. She has also presented at various conferences and settings, such as the Illinois Affiliation of Marriage and Family Therapists Conference, Postpartum Support International Conference, healthcare systems, and private practices on perinatal mental health, working with treatment-resistant adolescents, and interventions in couples therapy. Rachael has also been featured in publications such as Parents Magazine, Verywell Mind, and the EveryMother.
