Program Description:
This training provides a comprehensive overview of the essential role of clinical supervisors in behavioral health practice. Supervisors are responsible for ensuring that professionals operate within established standards of practice, identifying and addressing inadequate performance, and upholding ethical principles, state regulations, and competency-based supervision standards.
Given the complexities of helping clients in challenging work environments, clinical supervision is critical for promoting supervisee development, refining therapeutic skills, and enhancing the therapeutic environment. Supervision is a dynamic process that can be delivered in various formats, including in-person or telehealth sessions, and conducted individually, in dyads, or groups.
This course introduces participants to diverse methods and models of clinical supervision, each offering unique frameworks tailored to the needs of the supervisee, organization, and client. Attendees will explore approaches that align with their clinical practice while meeting the State of Iowa Supervisor Requirements.
Learning Objectives
- Review the standards for clinical supervision established by the Iowa Board of Behavioral Science
- Understand the roles, responsibilities, and guidelines associated with clinical supervision.
- Compare and contrast various models of clinical supervision.
