Why Goals?
Everyone can attain whatever goal they have set for themselves. There are no goals too big or too small and achieving goals is an accomplishment worthy of being acknowledged and celebrated.
There are several reasons that goals are important but here are 5 reasons why you should set goals for yourself.
- Goals give you direction
- Goal setting helps you identify what’s important to you
- Setting goals helps us measure progress toward success
- Goals help you stay motivated
- Setting goals keeps you accountable
Another important thing to keep in mind is to be detailed when listing your goals. For instance, if you want to be on the Dean’s list or Presidents list for a semester, that can be your goal, but how are you going to attain it? Are you going to set a dedicated time to study, go to sleep earlier, wake up earlier, eat breakfast?
Lastly, setting goals can be contagious, especially when you are able to start to check off those goals, those around you can see the progress that you are making and work to make goals for their personal lives.
