Peter Mattes (he/him)
Mental Health Counselor
M.A., tLMHC, NCC
T.E.A.M CBT Certified and IFS informed
I began my career working with high school students with developmental and intellectual disabilities as a special education associate while earning my B.A. in Psychology. After four years in education, I spent five years in banking at Wells Fargo and Regions Financial, serving clients nationwide. Following my passion for therapy, I earned an M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. During my internship in Southwestern Iowa, I worked with clients of all ages struggling with trauma, personality disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, bullying, and LGBTQ-related concerns.I use a person-centered, eclectic approach, tailoring therapy to each client’s needs. I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, play therapy, and Internal Family Systems to help clients better understand themselves, develop practical tools, and move toward meaningful, lasting change.
Peter is open to working with clients from all communities we serve in alignment with Heart and Solutions’ Commitment to Inclusion.
