About the Presenter

In 2020, Kate Haberman, LISW, MFT, RPT-S opened The Center for Foundational & Relational Wellness, LLC after responding to, both, the ongoing need for trauma and neurosequential development (attachment) treatment and a more inclusive, holistic, systems framework. Kate has previous experience working with inner city homeless and runaway youth, investigating child abuse, youth sexuality, and high profile child trauma cases.

Kate graduated with her undergraduate degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 2000 and with her Masters in Social Welfare and Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in 2003.

Kate has gained a specialized training in trauma and specifically Object Relations Attachment Theory while apprenticing and collaborating with Holly Van Gulden. Kate has trained extensively with Dr Kottman and is a registered play therapist and play therapy supervisor, a state approved social work supervisor, a certified TheraPlay practitioner and is trained in Filial Therapy. In 2019, Kate was awarded Play Therapist of the Year by the Iowa Association for Play Therapy. She commonly works with families, couples and parent/child dyads who have experienced early developmental trauma. Kate has developed a Parent Child Relational Assessment using elements of TheraPlay, Object Relations Theory and Attachment Theory to offer a comprehensive, non diagnostic, relational assessment as a tool to better understand of the needs of the child due to disruptive attachment, trauma, and other family issues. This play based (TheraPlay MIM) assessment is often requested by DHS workers and court officials to assess the attachment needs of young children and help guide treatment recommendations in the parent child relationship.
Along with providing psycho and play therapy, Kate is committed to enhancing the overall awareness, acceptance and advocacy of the community by offering professional and community education, expert testimony and support, non-diagnostic self and family learning opportunities and professional supervision. Kate is a former foster parent, adoptive parent to a 15 year old and a biological parent to 11 year old twins. Kate has a strong passion for communication, advocacy and learning and believes that “Those who live passionately teach us how to love, those who love passionately, teach us how to live.” (Paramahansa Yogananda)

Additionally, Kate has self published a Relational Parenting Manual, as well as Attachment Focused Skills for the Professional and the Parent. They can be seen/purchased on our website www.foundationalandrelationalwellness.com
