Program Description

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) can impact children in a variety of ways. As professionals, we can learn how to help turn these challenges into opportunities for growth and resilience through play therapy. This webinar explores how play therapy can be used to help clients heal from the short and long term effects of ACES as well as identify positive factors to support lifelong healing. Learn about the three major categories of ACES, along with cultural consideration that may impact the play therapy process while attending to childhood ACES.

Learning Objectives

1) Participants will be able to state the 3 major categories of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), and identify at least one ACE in each category.
2) Participants will learn about protective factors for healing from ACES and how to help children build resilience.
3) Participants will learn how play therapy can assist clients heal from short and long term effects of ACES.
4) Participants will learn how cultural considerations may impact Play Therapy while addressing childhood ACES.
