Jessica has her background in Elementary Education and has spent the last 7 years living and working in the southeast side of Chicago as an elementary school teacher and a mentor for new teachers. During her time teaching, creating a physically and emotionally safe environment to learn in was a priority. Each lesson sought to engage students through opportunities to collaborate, communicate, critically think, and be creative. Her goal is to empower children in a way that works for them which led her to transition to a career where she could work individually with children on life skills in an environment that prioritizes them. She believes children best learn when they can see themselves in their learning. She uses different modalities of learning and is excited and passionate to work with children of all ages to help them reach their goals.
Jessica is open to working with clients from all communities we serve in alignment with Heart and Solutions’ Commitment to Inclusion. *** Jessica is especially passionate about working with the following communities and issues: secular/nonreligious, gay people, racial justice, Asian, Black and African-American, transracial adoptees |
